13 Endearing Ways to Pamper, Indulge and Delight Your Mom
“Motherhood: All love begins and ends there” - Robert Browning
Wondering how to make this Mother’s Day special for the remarkable lady in your life?
The one who has been your rock, your confidant, your shoulder to cry on, your own Florence Nightingale, your alarm clock, and so much more?
Well, at least for today we will forget this angel also wears the devil’s horns with élan!
Mother’s Day around the world
Ceremonies around honouring mothers go back to ancient Greeks and Romans who started the celebrations to show their respect to goddesses Rhea and Cybele.
Today, the day is celebrated across the globe, mostly on the second Sunday of May. However, in some countries, it is celebrated at other times of the year, depending on the momentous cultural events ingrained in the country’s history.
It is a day of celebrations and felicitations indeed, and what better way to honour your mom than to do something unique and thoughtful for her!
It doesn’t have to cost you a fortune or be a grand gesture. All it requires is, what you do should come from the heart and make your mom feel loved and appreciated.
So, are you ready for a few Mother’s Day ideas to spark up her day?
Mother’s Day Celebration Ideas
Insist she takes a day off
Pretty self-explanatory, this is among the best ways to pamper your mom. When we say give her a day off, we don’t mean just from her day-to-day chores, but complete time-off and an indulgent me-time.
Breakfast in bed
This one is a fool-proof Mother’s Day special and never fails to bring out happy sighs. A genuinely heart-warming moment, serving your mom breakfast in bed will always win her over and make her teary-eyed with love. It doesn’t have to be a lavish affair, even a simple sandwich and her favourite tea, coffee or shake will make her feel special and loved.
Mushroom Toast: Mother’s Day Breakfast Special
A yummy dish, you can whip it up in no time at all.
All you need are some finely chopped mushrooms and onions (you can use dehydrated onions as well to save time and hassle of peeling and chopping onions). Also, some herbs and spices, a little olive oil, and you are all set.
Put oil in a pan, add onions and sauté well. Now add chopped mushrooms and cook on high flame as the mushrooms have high water content and cooking over high flame helps to evaporate that fast.
Spread this mix on a lightly buttered toast. Sprinkle some grated cheese over the toast and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 2-3 minutes.
Arrange a plate of these hot and sizzling mushroom toasts, together with a cup of hot/cold coffee or the refreshing watermelon mojito, and a stem of her favourite flower for the added panache.
Take this tray of love and thoughtfulness to your mom and revel in her delight and enjoyment!
Make a card for her
Buying a fancy card is the easiest, but a card made by you, how so ever shabby and basic, will always be the winner and a treasured keepsake.
Plan a special day for her
It could be anything that makes her happy. Taking her to the movies, her favourite play, an art show, an on-the-list restaurant, a family picnic, could be some options.
Make a reservation at a spa for her
Indulge her. Book a spa for her and insist she allows you to pamper her and make Mother’s Day special.
Plan a short holiday for her
If your mom likes to explore the world, surprise her with tickets to a must-visit-place on her list.
Make a picture collage
Look for memorable photographs of yesteryears and make a beautiful collage with them, captioning each picture with a funny and loving message — delight in the sheer happiness that will radiate from your mom.
Get a quilt made celebrating special moments with her
This one 's a keeper and hugely sentimental!
Put together a trip down memory lane
A video with some special moments of her life with you is another beautiful way to tell your mom you love her.
An audio-visual message
Short video messages from you, your siblings and other favourite people in her life will make her day and something she will cherish on those rainy days as well.
Gift a personalised mug
A mug with a special message or a picture of you both will delight her and bring on a smile and a happy feel every morning.
Rustle up some of her favourite dishes
I have yet to come across a mom who doesn’t love this gesture of her kids – young and adult alike!
Your mom is always whipping up your favourite dishes and pampering you. It’s time you reciprocated, even if just a bit.

Mango Mousse: A special dessert for the special lady
A fuss-free and easy dessert to make, all you need is cream, sugar, gelatine mango pulp and some mango chunks.
Keep half a kilogram cream in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, till chilled. In the meanwhile, puree 3-4 fresh mangoes or take a cup and half of frozen mango puree and keep in the refrigerator.
Soak a couple of strips 2-3 of gelatine or ¾ teaspoon (if using in powdered form) in 3-4 tablespoons of warm water. Mix well so that the gelatine dissolves completely.
Take 1/2 cup of the chilled cream, whip it and add the gelatine. Mix well and keep in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Put sugar as per taste in the rest of the chilled cream and whip gently till nice and fluffy. Add the cream-gelatine mixture and mix gently. Now add the mango puree and mix gently clockwise, ensuring there are no bubbles.
Spoon some mango chunks in chilled glasses or bowls. Pour the cream-mango mix, top with a few mango pieces and keep in the fridge for 6-8 hours to allow setting.
Once set, serve chilled. You can also add a drizzle of strawberry pulp on top for that added delightful twist of strawberry.
A lip-smacking dessert, the mango mousse is guaranteed to make your mom drool!
Watermelon Mojito: Mother’s Day Special Drink
An extremely quick-to-make and delicious summer drink, this one never fails to delight.
Peel half a medium-sized watermelon. Deseed a dash of black pepper powder for the kick and a pinch of rock salt. Peel and cut into big chunks. Put in a mixer with some lemon juice, and blend till smooth.
Pour into a decanter and add some washed and pounded mint leaves. Chill for half an hour. Pour into tall glasses.
Garnish with lemon wedges, mint sprigs and a watermelon spear and present proudly to your mom while she chills out on the patio.
A refreshing summer cooler and a good looking one at that, this will surely win you accolades from your mom!
Win her over with Chatpati Papri Chaat
Easy-peasy, all you need is some thick curd, spices, boiled potatoes and chickpeas, tamarind chutney and some papri. (Store-bought is equally good)
Now pour this over the papri-potato-chickpeas. Take a tablespoon of tamarind chutney and drizzle over the chaat.
Sprinkle some cumin powder and red chilli powder and garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve chilled to your beloved mom.
Crispy, savoury, sweet and tangy, this one is an ever-favourite and will win you brownie points!
